I'm a non-technical founder trying to find a technical co-founder to actually build a product. Everyone either wants a salary I can't afford yet or they just don't have the ownership mentality I need. How do you find the right person to build a company with when you can't pay them what they're worth yet? >> So, you're either going to pay in cash or you're going to pay in equity to get the talent you want. That's like you're going to incur debt, period. It's just what type of debt you're going to incur up front. You can have leadership debt, technical debt, which is what you would start if you did it without a co-founder. Like you're always going to incur debt in the beginning because you don't have any money. And anytime you use resources without making money, you incur debt. Now, that being [music] said, I'll just give you a story to illustrate what I think you're missing. So, School Sam, the co-founder, call it, and then he went and did 600 [music] interviews to find Daniel, our technical co-founder. And [music] I'll bet that you didn't do 600 interviews. You probably did five, maybe 10, and then you pitched people, and you treated them like employees, and so they treated you like an employer. But if you said, "I'm looking for a partner," >> [music] >> then I think you will find people who are higher caliber, but they're not going to come in just for a fixed salary. Now, if they want that, then you just have to find somebody who has more risk tolerance and wants more upside. But that's a personal decision, and [music] you just have to kiss more toads.
