“Quit your job and go all in” advice is terrible.
You probably have a mortgage.
And health insurance.
And maybe a family.
A whole life built around a steady paycheck.
Blowing all of that up overnight might make for a great story or look cool in the movies.
But it doesn't necessarily make for a smart decision.
There's a much more reasonable way to start a business:
1. Keep your job.
2. Think of your salary as venture capital.
3. Find 60 minutes daily to work on the business.
And, lastly, keep it incredibly simple.
Your goal is to spend the next few years getting it to 60% or 70% of your take-home pay.
Then?
Go all in.
At that point, you've already proven the business works, and you've built some predictable income.
And quitting now gives you 40+ hours a week to grow something that's already working.
The hard part is using those 60 minutes well enough to build something stable.
You've got to figure out:
- What to ignore.
- How to keep things simple.
- What deserves your attention.
- How to grow without burning out.
Those are the exact problems I had to solve while building my own one-person business.
Over time, I realized solving those problems really came down to 7 skills.
I break each one of them down in my free 30-page field manual:
Grow a $15M Solo Business (Without Burnout).
